Onboarding

Taiwan law mandates employers to provide a written employment contract outlining key employment terms to new hires within 30 days of their start date. This contract fosters transparency by clearly detailing job duties, work schedules, compensation, and leave entitlements, establishing a strong foundation for the employment relationship.

Payroll Services

Taiwanese law mandates monthly salary payments by the 15th of the following month. The standard workweek is 40 hours, with overtime (maximum 36 hours a month) pay mandatory for exceeding these hours.

Social Security and Labor Insurance: Employers and employees contribute to social security and labour insurance programs.

Leave

Taiwanese labor laws grant employees various leave entitlements to promote work-life balance and employee well-being. Here’s an overview of some key leave provisions:

Annual Leave: Taiwan mandates a minimum of 3 days of annual leave after 6 months of service, 7 days after 1 year, with additional days accrued, up to a maximum of 30 days.
Sick Leave: Employees are entitled to 30 days of sick leave per year which is paid at a half-pay.
Maternity Leave: Female employees are entitled to a combined 8 weeks of paid maternity leave before and after childbirth. This leave can be extended under certain circumstances.
Paternity Leave: Fathers are entitled to 7 days of paternity leave.
Public Holidays:There are 10 national holidays in Taiwan, with employees entitled to paid leave on these days.

Termination

Termination procedures in Taiwan require adherence to authorised cause prescribed under labor law with specific notice periods or severance pay in lieu of notice. Here’s a general overview of the termination process:

Notice Periods: Notice periods are typically identical for both employers and employees, with a minimum of 30 days required by law.
Ten days' notice for service of more than three months and less than one year.
20 days' notice for service of more than one year but less than three years.
30 days' notice for service of three years or more.

1) What documents should the client have ready to avail EOR services from Innovare in Taiwan?

Assignment details with job location, job title and description, industry, monthly salary, contract duration and candidate’s information. Candidate’s information should include nationality, educational level, Updated CV and brief job description. Innovare will then provide free assessment and advice based on the Customer’s information.

2) Do you assist clients with company incorporation in Taiwan? If so, to what extent do you provide support?

No, we do not offer incorporation services in Taiwan but we can refer experts who provides such service to interested Customers.

3) What does the process of getting started with Innovare for EOR services in Taiwan actually entail?

After initial assessment, the Customer to confirm on the eligibility of the candidate and sign contract with Innovare. Innovare will then proceed for onboarding preparation depending on the nationality or current visa status of the candidate. Work permit application rules and regulations shall abide to the country’s Department of Immigration. Innovare will provide guidance.

4) Does Innovare also support businesses with other aspects of setting up a business, such as becoming a member of a chamber of commerce or taking advantage of particular government schemes or grants in Taiwan? If yes, to what extent does that support extend?

Unfortunately, we do not have the capability to support this kind of service at the moment but we can send leads on options for the Customer to explore.

5) How does Innovare assist clients with visa and work permit requirements in Taiwan? What documents do you require from clients to facilitate the visa application process?

Innovare will provide free initial assessment for the Customer on candidate’s eligibility for Work Permit. Default location is Taipei. The required documents for applying Work Permit from the candidate include:

Training Certificate (if applicable)
Education Certificate – must be in English (with certified English translation, if written in other foreign language), must be Attested/Certified True Copy (CTC) by Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in home country
Work Certificate / Reference from previous company – min 2 years of experience, must be Attested/Certified True Copy (CTC) by Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in home country
